Development of a ‘Health and Wellbeing Campus’
Full planning application and associated documentation
Suite of technical assessments

The proposal was for the development of a ‘Health and Wellbeing Campus’ consisting of an integrated, affordable housing and care facility for local people as their care needs change. Three broad types of accommodation were provided: extra care, supported living and nursing home accommodation.

The accommodation was grouped around a central hub designed for use of the whole community, to include arts and crafts, a shop, a hairdressers, and other communal areas and facilities. The development incorporated a range of gardens throughout the site, including safe and secure courtyard gardens, sensory gardens, wildlife areas, and areas for residents to grow their own plants.

What we did
Enzygo was tasked with the preparation, submission and monitoring of a planning application, including a number of technical documents. We quickly identified the constraints of the brownfield site and requirements of the client and other stakeholders to ensure that the final design was fit for purpose and would be acceptable to the Local Authority.

Working closely with technical experts and external architects, we created a strong planning case and designed a functional yet sensitive scheme that overcame the sites constraints and ensured the environmental impacts of the development were acceptable. Mitigation measures were agreed with the Local Authority to ensure acceptability in terms of transport, landscape, ecology and flood risk.
