Planning Approval secured for Health & Wellbeing Campus

Enzygo has secured Planning Approval on behalf of its client, Ashley House plc, for Hampshire’s first purpose-built Health & Wellbeing Campus.

Located on a brown-field site at Oak Park, Havant, the design and construction of the new Campus has been financed by ‘Hampshire Living Space’, a consortium led by extra care housing and health property partner, Ashley House.

The Campus will offer a ground breaking approach to the provision of integrated living and care accommodation for over 55s. Designed by award winning architects, Penoyre & Prasad, the complex will comprise of an 80 bed nursing home, 51 affordable extra care flats and 48 shared ownership and market supported living apartments. In addition to the three types of accommodation, residents will benefit from a central hub to include shops, cafes, hairdressers, exercise areas and arts and craft workshops, whilst outside will contain courtyard and sensory gardens, wildlife areas and even mini allotments.

Architect Greg Penoyre said: “We are delighted that this important scheme has gained planning approval. The Oak Park Health and Well-being Campus is a new model of integrated living and care for elderly people which will provide for a range of residents’ needs and make a positive contribution to the wider local community.  The design sets out to make an enjoyable and sustainable environment with inviting, human scaled buildings set in rich and active landscaped gardens.  We look forward to seeing it completed and providing this much needed facility for elderly people in Havant.

Working closely with the external architects, technical experts and the Local Authority, Enzygo created a strong planning case and a functional design that overcame the numerous environmental, technical and logistical constraints of the site. Mitigation measures were agreed with the Local Authority to ensure acceptability in terms of transport, landscape, ecology and flood risk. Negotiations with the Council also achieved reduced financial contributions by way of CIL and Solent Disturbance Mitigation Project Contributions.

Enzygo has now also secured planning consent for two further Ashley House plc schemes in Leicester.
