Landfill and Ground Gas Assessments

As both an Environmental and Waste Consultancy Enzygo have a thorough understanding of the risks and management of landfill and other ground gases. Current guidance given in CIRIA C665 advocates ground gas monitoring on sites which are even considered to be a low risk. The services which we can provide include:

Gas Monitoring

Where feasible we seek to dismiss the ground gas risk through the Phase I Desk Study and associated conceptual model. Where this is not possible we can undertake a ground gas survey and provide appropriate assessment and recommendations.

Enzygo can undertake the design and installation of wells as part of a gas monitoring strategy for old landfills and site which are proposed for development. Ground gas monitoring strategies are designed to be flexible allowing us to add extra monitoring without excessive costs to the client.

Gas Risk Assessments

Where ground gas is identified we will provide an initial assessment using criteria provided in current guidance documents such as CIRIA C665. This is part of our normal ground investigation report. Where the gas regime is more complex we can undertake ventilation calculations and more detailed gas risk assessments.

Mitigation and Control Measures

Enzygo staff are experienced in the design and validation of ground gas control systems including:

Membranes to structures;

Passive and active ventilation systems to buildings;

Gas ventilation trenches and well fields;

Protective measures to services and infrastructure.

We can also access and design gas control requirements to landfills.
