Planning Policy

Environmental Policy, Waste and Minerals developments represent one of the most intricate and constantly-evolving areas of planning law.

Enzygo’s Waste & Minerals Planning team keeps abreast of the most up-to-date planning policy and legislation to ensure we provide sound and robust advice to our clients.

Planning Policy

At National level

National planning policies are set out in new-style Planning Policy Statements (PPS), which are gradually replacing Planning Policy Guidance Notes (PPG), Minerals Planning Statements (MPS) and Mineral Policy Guidance Notes (MPG), as well as planning circulars.

At Regional level

Regional Spatial Strategies (RSS) provide a broad development strategy for the regions for a 15 to 20 year period and inform the preparation of local development documents, plans and strategies.

At Local level

Each local planning authority is preparing a Local Development Framework which include all of the planning authority’s Local Development Documents (LDDs) for delivering the spatial strategy for their relevant areas including their strategy and sites for waste minerals developments.

Our Services

Enzygo can assist and advise waste operators, quarry operators and landowners of the implications of current and emerging planning policy documents at European, national, regional and local levels and how it affects their developments and operations. We also represent the interests of our clients during the preparation of the emerging Local Development Frameworks, for example by promoting their sites or landholding as part of the sites selection process.
