The treatment of waste is a major priority for local and central government in order to divert waste from landfill sites and conform to UK and European targets. As the waste industry moves from one of landfill to waste processing, the selection of treatment technologies has become a key aspect of future waste management development. However with increasing choices in a wide range of technologies together with the requirements of local authorities, suitability of available sites, the waste streams to be processed, and the potential for renewable and “ROCable” energy, making the right choice of technology can be a complex and challenging process.

Peter Cumberlidge, Director of Enzygo, who leads the Waste Technologies section, has extensive experience gained in working for waste technology suppliers, waste management companies, and local authorities in both development and consultancy roles over the past 18 years.

Enzygo can provide tailor-made support and advice to our clients on the technical and commercial appraisals of waste treatment options through early stage due diligence to establish suitability and deliverabilty for a wide range of technologies including:

Mechanical Treatment – including dry MRFs, front end processing of residual waste, refuse derived fuel production.

Mechanical Biological Treatment, such as aerobic treatment (in vessel composting), anaerobic digestion, and RDF/SRF production.

Thermal Treatment – including conventional combustion and Advanced Thermal Treatment, such as pyrolysis and gasification.

Mechanical Heat Treatment including autoclaving.

This is particularly relevant for those solutions which have a more limited track record in the UK or internationally.
